Digital Healthcare & Productivity has a great interview with Kirk Loevner, chairman and CEO of Epocrates that outlines their iPhone strategy and why it is so important to both the company and the greater healthcare community.
I have Epocrates Essentials software installed on my PDA and find it a great way to quickly demonstrate the capabilities of mobile devices in healthcare. The powerful tools that the software makes available in the palm of your hand is an incredible value proposition, however the mobile market has to date grown slowly and cautiously within Healthcare.
With the introduction of the iPhone though, I think the market for mobile devices at the point of care is set to explode and so does Epocrates. I’ve seen a demo of their software on the iPhone and it’s quite amazing intuitive, innovative and just plain simple to use.
